Meta Muse is Growing Faster Than ChatGPT Did at Launch. But There’s a Catch.

Meta’s new AI agent is attracting mobile users at a pace that puts ChatGPT’s early launch numbers in the spotlight.

The interesting question isn’t just how quickly Muse is growing. It’s whether Meta can turn that early attention into lasting adoption.

According to Apptopia estimates, Muse recorded 1.8 million iOS downloads in the U.S. and Canada during its first 12 days, compared with ChatGPT’s 1.3 million over the same launch period.

Muse also recorded more daily active users at the equivalent point in its launch.

Here’s the real story:

Meta already has an enormous audience across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. It can introduce Muse to people who are already using its products rather than building an audience entirely from scratch.

But these numbers are third-party estimates, not Meta’s official figures. And comparing a 2026 AI launch with ChatGPT’s 2023 debut doesn’t tell us which product people will still be using a year from now.

Meta may have an advantage in getting people to try Muse. Keeping them coming back is the next test.
