AI is moving so fast that Google just doubled Chrome’s release speed.

The browser wars are accelerating, but security may be the bigger reason Google can’t afford to wait four weeks anymore.

Google has officially moved Chrome from a four-week to a two-week release cycle, beginning with Chrome 153.

Google says AI-assisted vulnerability discovery and faster-moving threats are producing more security fixes, making shorter release cycles important for getting patches onto users’ devices faster.

Here’s the real story:

AI is accelerating both sides of cybersecurity.

It’s helping researchers find vulnerabilities faster while potentially giving attackers faster ways to exploit them.

At the same time, Google is rapidly adding AI features to Chrome while competing with a new generation of AI browsers. Even Mozilla, Microsoft, and Brave are moving toward faster two-week schedules.

Software used to ship faster because companies wanted new features out sooner.

Now it may have to ship faster because AI is making waiting more dangerous.
